Have you had people with small children tell you how fast they grow up? It is hard to fully understand until you’ve had kids of your own. Kids grow up before our eyes. And it’s sometimes hard to see the difference until we see comparison pictures of them, just a couple of months apart.

As parents, we’ve come to know that they constantly need new things because of their growth spurts. With that rate that only means a lot of money spent to upkeep the needs of these little humans that we love so very much.

What if I told you there are smarter ways to to go shopping for your ever-growing baby? Without spending a fortune every couple of months? The answer is simple. Go on a hunt for gently used, second-hand baby supplies.

• You can find a lot of things on Facebook Marketplace, including baby things. That is, of course, if you do have an existing account on Facebook. You can find things from toys, strollers, and clothes just to name a few, for next to nothing. Sometimes even free! Set your price range when searching for something specific, or just scroll through the “baby & kids” or “toys & games” categories, until something comes up that you need for your little one. Just be aware that the scrolling may seem endless as if you entered the never-ending world of YouTube videos.
• Other ways to shop are at children resale stores. They sell gently used and sometimes new toys, books and apparel for kids. A few of those stores include Once Upon A Child, with several locations within Tampa Bay, The Littlest Trunk in St. Petersburg, Reruns 4 Little Ones, and with a simple search online, you could find a handful of children’s consignment stores near you.

After all, why should you pay full price? Especially on items and clothes they will only wear or use a few times. Then, outgrow in a couple of months. I would rather put the extra bucks saved from those purchases into their college fund or family vacations.
