Check your city or county’s website for a St. Patrick’s Day parade or event and attend as a family. One of the biggest events in the Tampa Bay area is the Mayor’s River O’Green Fest. My family was able to attend once and we had a great time. There’s live entertainment, activities for kids and food trucks. Make sure to wear green to these fun events. You can have a competition by seeing which family member can dress in the most green for the celebration.

Scavenger Hunt

Create a scavenger hunt for your kids. You can make a list of St. Patrick’s Day-related items for the kids to find either around the house or around town. Once completed, have a plastic cauldron or basket full of treats waiting for them. A fellow contributor, Kim McNeely, created another fun scavenger hunt for her family. Purchase a little leprechaun from your local dollar store or party store. During the week of St. Patrick’s Day, move him around the house and leave gold (plastic) coins for the kids. On the actual holiday, the leprechaun will leave chocolate coins.
