Growing up I was a bookworm, and my love for books has continued on especially now that I am a mother! One of my favorite activities to do with my 1-year-old is read to him. It can be a challenge to find the time, but since it is so important to us, we have found some creative ways to incorporate it everyday. One of the best ways is while he has his playtime during his bath. He loves to look up and listen to our voices.
Lately, the books on my shelves are filled with parenting or children’s books. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite children’s book that I love to read and that I know Benji enjoys!
Little Blue Truck Leads The Way
This series is our absolute favorite! We chose this book as the theme for Benji’s birthday party because he loves it so much that his eyes light up every time it is read! You have to make animal noises throughout and of course, ‘Beep! Beep!’
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
This book is great for identifying a variety of animals and showing beautiful imagery along the way. I like to stop in the middle of reading and have Benji try to turn the pages on his own. For his birthday, he was gifted a couple of more in the series. Can’t wait to put them in the rotation!
This one is a classic. Over the weekend my nephew went to the Straz theater and saw a live adaptation of this book and loved it! This story is great for all ages. It is the metamorphosis of the caterpillar into a butterfly. The board book is so beautifully done by appearing like the caterpillar ate through it.
For Benji’s birthday, I took him to the bookstore and picked out two new books for his growing collection: On The Night You Were Born and Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. I can’t wait to read them again and again to him!
Are there any must have children’s book on your list?
