Discover the darkness lurking in the shadow of the magic. When you think of Orlando, you think of Mickey Mouse, of Cinderella’s Castle, of the nearby beaches and the concrete-jungle attractions that make the city so famous. You rarely hear of the city’s ties to secret societies, of the murders that took place in tunnels beneath the streets of downtown, or rumors of the connections the city’s residents have to the UFO sightings that make Florida the state with the second-most alien encounter reports in the country. Rumrunners, vaudeville performers, and the ghost of Ted Bundy – Orlando’s magic doesn’t just come from the happiest place on earth.
At Sweetwater farm camp, campers will learn how to:
- Compost and maintain soil health
- Cook and preserve food
- Grow an organic garden from seed
- Identify numerous plant species
- Identify nutrients/chemicals in food
- Identify avian and aquatic species
- Make a biodegradable seed pot for sprouts
- Use microscopes to study plant life at the cellular level
- Upcycle and create art with found objects
Campers will also have opportunities to take hikes, play games, interact with farm animals, sing songs, participate in a scavenger hunt, eat healthy foods and just be kids! Lessons cover benchmarks in Life and Earth sciences for grade 4-6. This is a great opportunity for campers to apply knowledge they will be learning in school the next year, or reinforce what they have learned from the year previous.

Hop aboard a complimentary boat or trolley shuttle to nearby Winter’s Dolphin Tale Adventure, where you’ll discover a museum of rebuilt sets and props from the Dolphin Tale movies and walk through our Hurricane Experience exhibit.
