Do you have your Halloween costumes picked out yet?
My daughter asked to be Izzy from Disney Jr’s, Jake & the Never Land Pirates this year for Halloween. I couldn’t stand the sight of the $20+ costumes that looked like they’d fall apart after one use, so I decided to make her costume instead! I have a sewing machine, but since I work full-time, I know that I won’t set aside time to sew anything. Everything I used for this costume was found at WalMart for less than $15 ($13 and change to be exact) and took me less than 15 minutes to make. You can tell by the look on her face that she approves!
Supplies:
- 1 Pair of Purple Jeans – $10.00
- 1 Pink Tshirt (slightly longer than normal) – $2.00 on clearance
- 1 Pink Headband – $1.00
- Optional: Pixie Dust Pouch (found items around the house)
- Optional: Pink shoes or boots!
Directions:
As you can tell from the picture above, there really was only one cut to make to the shirt. I drew the scalloped edge about 2 inches from the bottom using a light colored crayon. Cut along the line, being sure to cut through both sides of the fabric. That’s it!! I really think it took me less than 5 minutes for the shirt.
I found a small cotton gift bag that I had saved to use for the pixie dust pouch and added some black cording. She wants to fill it with gold glitter for the pixie dust and paint the outside of the bag tomorrow.
That’s it!! Super easy, right?! I have confidence that any of you can make this costume yourself and your kids will be thrilled! You may even have the pants and shirt in your drawers already. Have fun and remember that your child will have fun regardless of how much you spent on their Halloween costume! What does your child want to go as for Halloween this year?
