Crafty Ideas for a Night Out in Tampa Bay

Scrapbooking used to be my creative outlet. But two kids later and a full-time job, I can only day dream of the days when I’d have that much time to spend cutting pictures and making layouts. It’s a long lost memory that’s left with me several scrapbooks filled with pictures I get to show my kids or flip through when I stumble upon them. It also makes me a little resentful because I know I’m so far behind and at this point with the nearly constant full photo stream, it would be impossible to get caught up! One thing remains– I still have that creative itch. Thankfully, there are quite a few crafty ideas for a night out in Tampa Bay that let your inner artist come out for a few hours.

Whether it’s a date night with your significant other or girls night out… here’s the hook-up on crafting around the Bay:

Charlie Parker Pottery – St. Petersburg

This quaint little studio is worth the drive, especially if you’re coming from Tampa Bay. The owner, Charlie, is a comical gentleman who’s owned the pottery shop for many years. He walks you through the whole process to make your own pottery. It’s BYOB, so feel free to bring some wine (don’t forget the glasses & bottle opener) and be prepared for a “Ghost-like” experience. It would also be great for a couples night.

Decades Reclaimed – Lakeland

I ended up at Decades Reclaimed for a holiday sign making class. I get so many compliments on this unique piece! They fill up quick, so if you see something – definitely sign up. The facilitators were very helpful and encouraging. It’s a little bit more rustic and smaller studio space, so ideal for you and a friend or two; or an afternoon by yourself.  Be sure to check out their large shop of local reclaimed goods for sale.

Pottery Patch – Valrico

Theme nights are a hit at the Pottery Patch! They have fun themed events and even feature special craft events for kids. This local shop offers something fun for everyone!

Nook & Cranny – Pinellas Park

This place fills up fast! Be sure to book a spot in advance if you see a class that you’re interested in. Check out their Facebook page for a variety of projects ranging from kitchen décor to family signs and clocks. It’s worth the drive over to Pinellas Park and yes, you can BYOB. All projects are prepped and they walk you through step-by-step on how to assemble, paint, stain, etc. There are even classes targeted for kids, couples and of course – ladies night!

There’s also paint & sip shops all over the Tampa Bay. I’ve done quite a few, but the perfectionist in me thinks the instructors go too fast. But I’ll welcome any night out with friends or my husband, to enjoy an adult beverage and channel my inner creativeness!
