Get Lost in a Maze of Sunflowers at Sweetfields Farm

Florida sunflower at Sweetfields FarmSunflowers have long been admired for their beauty and happy disposition. With their bright yellow petals also known as rays, sunflowers always cheer me up and remind me of the warm Florida sun.

If you want to add some extra sunshine to your spring, plan a day trip to visit Sweetfields Farm for its annual sunflower maze open weekends in May.

Sweetfields Farm is located just south of Brooksville in Masaryktown, about 40 miles north of Tampa. In addition to the spring sunflower maze, the farm is also a popular place to visit in the fall for its annual corn maze open on weekends in October.

The Sunflower Maze

Sunflower maze entrance at Sweetfields FarmMuch like a fall corn maze, the sunflower maze takes you on a journey of many paths through a tall field of green in search of the exit. But instead of wandering through corn, you’ll enjoy taking in the beauty of the cheery sunflowers that surround you at 8-10 feet high as you make your way through the maze.

You’ll find the right path by correctly answering a trivia question at marked checkpoints within the maze.

Once you make it through the maze, grab a drink and cool off under a water mist station while you visit the farm animals. You can also try your hand at shooting a potato launcher, race rubber duckies in a hand pump trough and take a hayride.

What to Know Before You Go

Plan for the sun! Dress appropriately for a sunny May day, wear sunscreen and bring bottled water to keep you hydrated as you make your way through the maze.

Freshly popped kettle corn is a yummy treat you can buy to reward yourself for making it through the maze. Feel free to bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy in a shady picnic spot next to a play area with a tree house, swing and seesaw.

The farm offers lots of photo opportunities from the beautiful sunflowers to farm animals and family activities.

The Sweetfields Farm sunflower maze is open on weekends in May from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Note that the last admission is sold at 3 p.m. to give you enough time to go through the maze and visit the farm.

Admission prices are $9.50 plus tax for adults and $5.00 plus tax for kids. Children two and under are admitted free.

The sunflower crop only lasts for so long so don’t miss your chance to take in its beauty and enjoy spring family fun.
