10 Fun, Cheap and Easy Summer Garden Projects for Kids

This fall I plan on getting my edible backyard garden started. My kids are really excited and have been badgering me for weeks to get their hands dirty and start this garden. Unfortunately, with this Florida heat, none of the veggies that I want to grow will be able to survive in the summer. I decided while waiting for Florida weather to cool, I could keep my kids excited by doing different garden projects with them. This will allow them to add their own personal touch to our family garden while keeping their anticipation at bay.

I had a few criteria that I needed to meet as a busy mom. First of all, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on one craft. The craft had to be budget-friendly with easy to access materials. The project had to be fun and easy to complete in a couple of hours. My kids have a very short attention span, and I have things to do. While getting crafty and artsy this summer is fun, cleaning up after these projects are not. I needed to make sure that the project did not require a lot of clean up duty at the end of the activity. Keeping these criteria in mind, I searched the internet for fun, cheap, easy to make while creating very little mess projects. Here are the top 10 projects that I settled on.
