Summertime gets hot here in Florida, something I always seem to forget until July hits, and then water becomes a necessity both to drink and to play in! We love going to parks for a fun afternoon, but when the heat gets to be in the high 90’s, we hit the splash parks.

Our favorite splash park is the Kiwanis Spray Park in Dunedin, Florida. Open from 9:00 am till sunset every day, this park is filled with 3,000 square feet of cool, aquatic fun. From crocodiles that shoot water from their nose, to buckets of water falling on your head and fun slides and sprinklers to walk through. And don’t worry moms, there is shaded seating for you while you watch your kids play to their hearts’ content!

Best part is, this splash park is FREE and open to the public!

Another favorite aquatic spot we like to go to is the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center in New Port Richey, Florida. This $14 million state of the art facility located in West Pasco is one of the best hidden gems in Pasco County.

The NPR Aquatic Center has three pools including a lap pool, a diving pool and an awesome /kiddie splash play pool. The facilities also include every kid’s favorite: water slides! If you’ve had enough of the sun, there is a fitness center, dance studio, basketball court, game room and more inside. Did all of that wear you out and make you hungry? That’s OK, because this year they have contracted with Chick-fil-A to run the concession for the recreational facility.

This amazing facility has relatively low membership fees, and if you are looking for just a fun day in the sun, it is $4 for Youth and $6 for Adults.
