The Holidays Are Here
The holidays are here!!! I love this time of year. Decorations, gift giving, food, desserts, family and holiday movies. I love curling up with a nice blanket on the couch or bed, drinking a nice glass of wine or cup of hot chocolate and watching my favorite holiday movies. Of course, the Hallmark channel has awesome holiday movies, but nothing beats the classic family holiday movies or the grown-up holiday movies. While decorating the house and the tree you can always find a holiday movie playing on the TV or holiday music playing in my house. I am one of those people that start decorating early, as soon as Halloween is over. Can you tell I love holidays? Hahaha! So, the more I thought about which movie might be my ultimate favorite, the harder it was for me to pick.
Family Holiday Movies
If I had to start with my most favorite family holiday movie, it would have to the original black and white “Miracle on 34th Street”. This movie has been re-made a few times and all have been great, but nothing beats the classic movie with Natalie Wood. We can’t forget about “It’s a Wonderful Life” to remind us of what’s important in our lives. These movies fill your heart with joy and the holiday spirit. Who can forget “A Christmas Story”? Sweet Ralphie tries to get that Christmas present (a Red Ryder air rifle) from Santa. This movie is definitely a fun family movie to watch. On Christmas Eve or the night before Christmas Eve, my son gets to open a box that is under the tree. It is filled with pajamas, hot chocolate, marshmallows, popcorn, a book, and candy canes. We open this box, put on our PJ’s, make the hot chocolate, pop the popcorn, dim the lights, cuddle on the couch and watch The Polar Express. The smile on his face while watching this movie that he loves is priceless.

Grown-up Holiday Movies
Now time for the grown-ups to have some holiday movie fun. I have to admit that one of my favorite movies to watch during the holidays without the kids is the original “Die Hard” movie. I know some say that it’s not a holiday movie, but the movie does take place during the holidays. Who doesn’t love seeing Bruce Willis saving the day? Haha! What about a little scary movie during the holidays? For that, we watch “Gremlins”. Such ugly monsters coming out of something so adorable. I can’t forget about “Scrooged” with Bill Murray. I guess I like the adult humor in this version of Christmas Carol story.
