My Health Journey for The New Year

New Years Resolutions

Year after year, as far as I can remember, I always make the same New Year’s resolution: To lose weight and get to my ideal weight. I start off full speed ahead by going to the gym and eating healthy then somewhere around celebrations, vacations and just life I lose track of my resolution. This year I am going to try something different. I’m not making a resolution to lose weight and get to my ideal weight. I am just going into 2019 knowing that I want to continue to be healthy, to have the stamina to keep up with my son and niece, and to love my body the way it is. I no longer want to focus on trying to achieve the “perfect body” based on social media or television. I want to focus on a body that is healthy, a body that I am happy with, and a body that lets me enjoy my time with family and friends instead of worrying about being on a diet.

The Plan

1. To end the yo-yo dieting and just eat healthily.

Yo- yo dieting is when you start a new diet and do well. Then, stop for a few days and then start the diet again. You just keep going in a cycle and no goals are met from it. For example, eating healthy from Monday- Thursday,  Friday-Sunday eat all the carbs, drinks and junk food and then pick the eating healthy again on Monday.

2. To continue working out at least 3-5 times a week.

Being a full time mom and working full time can make this hard to accomplish. Working out by either going to Crossfit, cycling or the gym always makes me feel better once it’s done. I need to remember that during the week so I can get at least three workouts done. I make everyone else a priority and I need to make myself a priority by getting the workout done.

3. To remember I am human and mistakes will be made along my journey.

If I have a bad day then I just pick it back up the next day.

4. To love my body.

When you love your body, you treat it well and feed it the things it needs. This has always been hard since I wanted my body to be the perfect size and still struggle with it, but my body is special and it should be loved for the way it is and for what it can do.

2019

I know 2019 will be a great year and I will make sure that I continue on my healthy journey by taking a different approach this year and being kinder to myself. Also, knowing that I can do anything I put my mind into and loving my body for the incredible things it is capable of doing will be a focal point for the year.
