Hey Tampa Moms! I’m so excited to be part of the Tampa Moms Blog team of bloggers. When our family moved to the Bay area almost 8 years ago I didn’t know a single person. We always wanted to live near the ocean. When our dreams came true we packed up and left Georgia, where we both were raised, and started our new life with our then 2 year old son. Over the past 8 years we’ve grown to love the Bay area and now call Palm Harbor our home.
We now have 2 amazing children; a 4 year old daughter and a 10 year old son; as well as a cranky old cat and a little pug pup. An average day in our lives includes transporting the kids to school, working, exercising, karate lessons, swim lessons, and maybe 30 minutes to sit down and enjoy dinner together as a family. With our weeks so busy, we spend every available hour of the weekends playing hard and having fun.
The ocean is what originally called us to Florida and we still enjoy a lazy day spent playing in the sun, sand, and surf. Our kids have mastered making sand castles and jumping waves at our favorite local beach; Honeymoon Island State Park. We pack up the sand toys, snacks and towels and can spend hours soaking up the Florida sunshine and feeling the sand between our toes. Whether we go with friends or as a family, a day at the beach is the best way for us to unwind from our busy week. It’s not uncommon for both of the kids to fall asleep on the 5 minute drive home leaving both of us free to take a weekend nap ourselves.
When we aren’t spending the day at the beach you might find us at a baseball game, food truck rally, grilling out with friends, or swimming in the backyard. Outside of the Bay area we love to explore other beach towns looking for seashells, soft sand, and great food. We’ve even been known to tube down an ice cold spring with friends when it’s really hot out. In the Fall, when the weather is cooling we often travel back to Georgia to watch college football at the University of Georgia; Go Dawgs! Our travels don’t stop in Georgia, we like to explore this great earth and share it with our kids.
Sadly, every weekend must come to an end and a new week begins. Are Monday’s as hard on your and your family as they are for us? Do you wish there were more Saturday’s and less Monday’s? How do you and your family spend the weekend?
