Unexpectedly Expecting? There’s Help.
Sometimes pregnancies are planned. Sometimes they’re a surprise. While always a blessing, for someone who is unprepared and unsupported (financially or emotionally), it can be frightening to find yourself unexpectedly expecting. Where’s a hormonal girl to turn?
The Florida Pregnancy Support Services (FPSS) program has medical centers located throughout Florida offering help and support to pregnant women and their families. (To find a center near you, click here.) Through counseling, education, and other free services, this program provides resources and information to assist women throughout their pregnancies. Whether you’re a teen mom, struggling financially, or just don’t have the emotional support you need, FPSS is here to help.
Life Choices Women’s Care is one such FPSS center. Located in Lutz (about 30 minutes north of Tampa), it’s run by a mostly volunteer staff who happily give their time and expertise to help women realize their options and know they’re not alone. They provide pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, nursing assessments, prenatal vitamins, and more and all of their services are completely free.
While an unplanned pregnancy can be a scary prospect, the staff at Life Choices Women’s Care can present you with the information, resources, and support you need.
Life Choices also has an Earn and Learn program which is particularly helpful for those who may be struggling financially. Simply by watching informative videos on pregnancy and parenting, moms-to-be earn Mommy bucks. These Mommy bucks can then be used at their in-office Mommy Boutique to purchase clothes (baby and maternity), diapers, wipes, and more. Unplanned pregnancies can sneak up on women of all backgrounds, income levels, and lifestyles. No matter who you are or where you’re from, we all need someone in our corner.
