You Know You’re a Mom of Toddlers When…

You Know You're a Mom of Toddlersyour longest stretch of uninterrupted sleep was in a toddler bed…

you have 2 weeks’ worth of clean laundry strewn about your house…

you turn sandwiches into animals/shapes/letters in the hopes that your kid will at least TASTE it before throwing it away…

you sing at least one Daniel Tiger song per day in an attempt to get your kids to do something…

you sing a particular Daniel Tiger song to yourself when you’re about to lose it…

you have to say things like, “Get off your brother’s head!” or “No body-smashers on the baby!”…

you fall asleep reading a bedtime story…

you love using the Super Yard (a.k.a. Baby Prison) when the kids will actually play in it…

you find an extra pair of toddler underwear in your purse…

you bribe your kids with candy…

you have an elusive yet undeniable stink in your car…

you’ve been puked on so much that a cough makes you skittish…

your toddler’s bathroom is mysteriously and consistently out of toilet paper…

your toddler’s toilet suddenly keeps clogging up (mystery solved)…

you’re no longer phased by tiny fingers up your nose or in your mouth…

you open the car door to find shoes and socks on the floor (every time)…

you push the grocery cart into the bathroom because your toddler gave you 4 seconds’ notice and the baby is still in the seat…

you celebrate your baby’s new skill of self-feeding – because now you get to eat again…

you hide from your children when eating snacks…

you run out of sick time in February…

you count the hours of sleep you actually got and

you stop counting the hours of sleep you actually got.

We may be exhausted, run-down, and hungry, but we’re moms and we wouldn’t trade it for anything… Except a really big glass of wine, maybe. No; just kidding. When it feels like everything on this list has happened to you in the same day, just remember – they’re only little once. Before you know it, they’ll be puking all by themselves and turning to a friend to hold their hair back. Enjoy the fun parts of toddlerhood and stay strong through the hard times because one day they won’t ask you to pick them up anymore.

What did I miss? What funny/odd things do you run into as a mom of toddlers?
