8 Tips When Traveling With a Baby

If you are considering and able to travel with your baby, I would like to share with you some of my personal favorite travel tips and essentials for baby. That way you could pass on some of the unnecessary stuff that only provides limited usage, and to ultimately make your travel journey a little more enjoyable and stress-free.

What to Bring Onboard When Traveling With a Baby

1. Bobby Pillow

A boppy pillow will be your best friend on a flight. You can use it to nurse/feed your baby, especially on take off and landing when their little ears need to acclimate to the rapid pressure change. It is also very helpful when they need to sleep. Your arms will thank you at the end!

2. Nursing Cover

If you have a nursing cover, you can use it to cover over them if they are sleeping and if the lights are on. It can also help with the germs going around in the aircraft from other nearby coughing passengers. More of a peace of mind than anything else. I love the versatility of a nursing cover, not just only using it for breastfeeding.

3. Extra Outfits

Pack extra outfits in case of a blowout or a delayed layover. Bring an extra shirt for yourself in case their blowout accident gets on you too. Also, don’t forget the extra diapers and wipes for the journey!

4. Favorite Toy

Bring their favorite toy(s) or books along on the flight. If they are not napping or feeding, they will need to be entertained.

5. Snacks

Pack a bunch of snacks for them. A well-fed baby will be a happy baby on board, for the most part.

6. Liquids for Baby

There is no limit on liquids if it’s for the baby, whether it be milk, water, or anything else. They run them through a special scanner. So definitely bring water for them as to keep them well hydrated inside a very low humidified aircraft.

7. Disinfectant Wipes

Bring disinfectant wipes to wipe everything around you just in case they reach to touch their surroundings. Planes have a lot of germs. It’s best to minimize the possibility of germ contact especially while their immune system is still developing.

8. Cute Flying Outfit

Put them in a cute but cozy outfit! You’ll get more “aww’s” instead of “oh great, baby”-insert eye roll- from other passengers as you walk down the aisle. Plus, the cozier they are, the more likely to sleep better. Check periodically to see that they’re not overheating. My favorite is the fleece baby bear jumpsuits with the hoodie. Too cute!

I hope these tips when traveling with a baby can help another mom out that is considering traveling. These tricks have made our travel journeys with my baby a lot easier. The key advice in all of this is to not stress too much about the journey. Just think of the memories you’ll be creating with your little one!
